- A touch or hug goes a long ways.
- Make sure they take their meds and keep their appointments.
- Don't take their anger personally. Some days just suck.
- Treat them the same as before you found out.
- Don't break their trust and tell others. Let them decide who and when to tell.
- Remember, it's like coming out a second time.
- Take time for yourself. It's OK to take a timeout.
- Give them unconditional love and support.
- Every person is different; there are no firm rules.
- Don't worry if you don't have all the answers. Just listen.
- Exercise is a "best" treatment. Take a walk around the block or go on a hike with them. You'll both feel better.
